Our Horses

The majority of the horses used by T.H.R.I.L. are leased by very generous owners and we are thankful for their contribution. This program would not be possible without the support and generosity of these equestrians.

Freya

She is a 15hh Norwegian Fjord/Percheron cross and brings the best of both breeds to her job. She has wonderful gates and an accepting personality that are ideal for a therapy horse. Freya loves treats after her rides, especially apples! Our thanks to her owner for making it possible for her to be part of the program.

Coco

This 14hh pony has recently been introduced into the therapy program! Coco used to travel to the states to do pony games with her owner before becoming a therapy pony. As well as the program, she goes to schooling shows with her young riders and does dressage and showjumping! Coco love spending time with the children that are in the program. We are very thankful for her owner allowing Coco to be part of T.H.R.I.L.

Raymond

A dark brown horse wearing a blue halter. His ears are perked up

This 16.1hh thoroughbred is a barn favourite and has a nickname of, Ray! He raced for two years and then became a pony club mount for our founder’s daughter. Now in his early twenties, he is a willing partner for our riders with his lovely walk and easy trot. Thank you to Field of Dreams Farm for allowing us to use Raymond in our program!

This mare is a perfect 14.1hh size, with a gorgeous flowing mane and tail. Luna plays an important role in our carriage program offering a safe and enjoyable experience for individuals who may not participate in adaptive riding.

Sadie

This pony stands at a whopping 11.3hh. She has a big personality in a small package. Her specialty are our horsemanship and senior programs. She is an invaluable asset to our many participants. We are very thankful that her owner shares her with us.

Kip

Kip is retired from riding. He still enjoys participating in horsemanship and senior programs. This gentle giant is one of the barn favourites as he loves to cuddle. Standing a tall 16.2hh, he was the biggest horse in the therapy program. Before entering the program, Kip used to show the 1.0m and 1.10m jumpers divisions with his owner. We are very thankful to him for allowing Kip to be part of the program.

Lillie - On Trial

A buckskin coloured horse with a white star stripe and nip on her face

Lillie is our newest addition here at T.H.R.I.L. and is currently being assessed to see if she is a good fit for the program. She is a 15.2hh Quarter Horse and is 12 years old. We are thankful to her owner to provide us the opportunity to meet her and get to know her.

We occasionally are looking for horses or ponies that would suit our program.  A superb, accepting mind, physically sound with a good walk and a gentle trot are prerequisites for consideration.  A free-lease with owner accepting veterinary costs is our ideal situation with the owner being responsible for the eventual retirement of the horse.  Please contact Kelly Russell at info@thril.ca.
